Answering a readers question.

"I've been thinking about visiting a bead store and trying to create some of my own necklaces. How difficult is it for someone who isn't that crafty?"
To answer this question I need to tell you guys how my passion for jewelry making started.
Before I started making jewelry I would go shopping and the first thing I was attracted to was jewelry I would buy tons of them the more different the better. Until 2 years ago my neighbor showed me how to make my first necklace, I was hooked immediately , I never thought it would be so easy. I started with buying inexpensive beads at Michael's and Jo-Ann's. They each have a pretty big selection. I would suggest you also visit a bookstore and look for a book on jewelry making for beginners.

I am self taught and I took some classes later on at a local bead store, like pearl knotting , macrame with beads and wire wrapping.A couple of months ago I took a glass bead making class, where you learn how to make your own beads. It is a whole day class and it is awesome.

Right now I get my gemstones from Brazil and Argentina they are more on the expensive side. I get my other beads from local bead stores, for inexpensive stuff I still go to Michael's or Jo-Anns. I also buy online and I visit garage sales for different kinds of jewelry or vintage pieces that I can break apart and combine with other beads.

You will also need tools, I would stay start with a cheap one they are the ones where you get like a couple of tools in a same package, if you are more serious and if this is for you, definitely invest in some better ones

I would say start out with a bracelet, get some wire (you can always ask for help while in the store) a couple of beads some clasp crimps an and make something today.
I have never thought I would make my own jewelry if I had not tried. Good luck and I hope this helps answer your question.

Skinny Jeans.

I bought these skinny jeans the other day at Old Navy, they have a sale going on this week on all their jeans. Every jeans is only $19. They have them in navy, black, grey and different styles too with zippers at the ankle. When I buy something I can't wait to wear it right away. So I had to wear today. It is very comfortable and I really like this color, I get to wear this later with boots and a oversize sweater for fall and winter. There are may ways I could style this one.

I just got back from a visit with the hand therapist, therapy is going well but slow. The stitches are coming out on Monday , but I still will have to wear the cast for 4 more weeks, I can do this I know.

jeans: Old Navy ($19)
belt:?
shoes: Steve Madden
jacket: French Connection
necklace: handmade
black top: Willie Smith (TJmaxx)

Have a Terrific Thursday, wow this week went pretty fast.

Bead delicious

I got these beautiful beads while vacationing in Europe. I always plan ahead and include a trip to local bead store while on vacation but this time it was really hard to find one cause the majority were closed for vacation. So while walking in Gent, Belgium I stumbled on a cute store with lots and lots of beads, just imagine for a second......

I had to make a quick stop and look at all the beautiful things they had in there. I did buy some cool interesting beads including these two you see in the picture, I am planning to make a necklace with these two beauties and I will combine them with leather cord I think or maybe with chain.

note:(I can only do that once cast is off and I get to use my right hand again)

I am also searching for pearls and crystals to start making the jewelry for my sister who is getting married in September, if any of you know a online store where they sell pearls and other beads please let me know.

Betsey Johnson Rouge

Sorry for not showing my face in the pics, but I had a rough night yesterday, a good friend of mine her husband lost his job. And I am also trying to adjust with my daughters schedule and all the happenings made a bit unhappy. But I am feeling better now.

Today's outfit was built around the red belt by Betsey Johnson. I bought this belt a couple of months ago at TJMaxx and I never get to wear it so today it had to come out of the closet and get some use. The jeans are from Banana Republic, I think I might have over a dozen pairs of jeans from Banana Republic, if I like one I tried to buy two pairs, one that I get hemmed to wear with flats and one that I wear with high heels for going out. Dinner is almost ready, hubby is making pasta and salmon.

Have a great evening ,

Cozy Tuesday

Keeping with the theme of looking all the way in the back of the closet for some forgotten stuff, I found these pants that I bought a long time ago on a trip to Holland. They have drawstrings at the ankle part of the pants, today I pulled it up just below the knee, let me tell you very comfortable and I can't wait to wear them with boots.
I paired it with a thin sweater from Gap that I normally wear when the weather is a bit cooler.
But because of the majority of the day I was going to be sitting inside the house I opted for long sleeves, cause if you know me I am always cold. I have been catching up on Facebook, Twitter and also the blogworld.
Later on I am considering an outfit change cause it is Hand therapy time..
Ok ladies have a Terrific Tuesday.

Not a lot to talk about, today was kinda my day of cleaning, so that kept me pretty busy.
I went grocery shopping, did some cooking and now I am going to hangout a bit in front of the TV to watch my favorite Spanish soap.
The jeans I am wearing today was hiding all the way in the back of my closet.

Love,
Farrielle.
