For men, functional swimwear doesn’t have to be all about wearing small, unfashionable briefs. They may make you glide through the water like a fish but they don’t exactly look all that good when you’re hanging out around the pool or at the beach bar.
That’s when you need your swimwear to be a little more on the stylish side. Luckily, in the past few years, there has been a definite move
towards men’s swimwear that also works as stylish summer wear. Many men’s swimming shorts look great whether you’re swimming or hanging out having a drink.
When you’re packing your suitcase for your holiday and you can’t seem to fit everything in, having some multi purpose shorts is going to massively cut down on the things you need to take. In fact, if you’re going somewhere really hot, pack a couple of pairs of stylish trunks and a few nice T-shirts and you probably won’t need anything else.
This summer, pastels are very much in for both girls and guys. Pastel shades of green, blue and even pink will all look good with a crisp white T-shirt and a pair of loafers or flip-flops. A straw sun hat will complete the cheeky-chappy look, as perfected by Olly Murs.
This year, the cut you’re looking for isn’t quite the big, board short look. You’re going for a smaller short. About mid-thigh length with a tighter fit than in the past; imagine the classic French short style popular over the last couple of years and take it up an inch or two. That’s your hem length for 2012.
Being swimming shorts, they will also have an inside lining, so you can ditch the boxers too. Then, if you wander past the pool or discover a little deserted cove when you’re out exploring, you can whip off your shirt and dive straight in. Once your shorts have dried on your way back into town, you still look like you’re ready to go for a drink or a meal. That’s efficiency even those early rising Germans who nabbed all the sun loungers would appreciate.
Going on holiday is definitely the highlight of the summer. It’s what we look forward to all year, so we need to look our best. Whether it’s a family holiday, a romantic break for two or a lads’ trip away, looking your best in your trunks is easy if you’ve got the right pair.
