Happy Queensday.......Wear Orange!

Today we celebrate Koniginnedag in the Netherlands, where everybody wears the orange color proudly. Here in the US we hang the flag outside and we get together with friends all dressed in orange for drinks and barbecue or we just go out to a cafe/pub.
I am looking forward to a Dutch Celebration in Buckhead this evening , I am planning on wearing some orange, I am still thinking earrings or some sort of a necklace we will see. I normally never plan outfits for these kinda event, I go by how I feel at that moment.

Inspirational Friday: Close encounter!

I took this picture after I came back from buying some flowers for my porch. I love the fact that when you take a picture so close , you get to see all the beautiful details you might not noticed. You get to have a close encounter with the flower. This is the same with people we might see daily  but until we spend time with them, have a deeper connection with them, spent time talking , listening  to them  we start seeing their inner soul  and who they really are.
Keep your love of nature, for that is the true way to understand art more and more.

Qui vengo Italia!

Here I come Italy, I have been learning Italian for quite some weeks , I so want to be able  to speak this beautiful language when I go there in the Summer. I am researching all the cool places in Rome.
It has always been on my wish list, I always have said that maybe one day I might end up living there, but who knows:)  I want to take beautiful pictures, eat authintic food , be confident enough to order my food in Italian and even carry a conversation with the locals.

On a different note I went for a run this morning, but had to cut it short cause I had too much pain in my ankles, my mistake may have been that I  tried out a new jogging trail and it was a bit too hilly. Next time I will do better, I already made an appointmet with a sports dr. cause I really need to figure out why I have pain when I run, wish me luck let's hope it is something that can be fixed.
I had plans to later look for new Zumba but decided to stay home and make some new jewelry. This is what I am wearing, nothing fancy only comfortable so I can just relax when designing new stuff.

What I made: ‘What’s Old is New Again!’

This months challenge from Artbeads is about combining something old with something new and to make it into a new jewelry design.  I wanted to pick out my old piece first so on a trip to Washington DC, I stumbled upon a bead store and bought an old Ethiopian Cross Pendant. My inspiration board was covered with tribal fashion that week cause this particular cross looked like it belong to a queen of a tribe. I have researched tribal jewelry on the Internet and then I choose a mix of  Red Magma and, Topaz and Caribbean Blue Swarovski crystal, Czech fire polished beads in an orange color I had some wood from Brazil on hand which I wanted to be in the center of the necklace around the cross pendant.

I wanted to say thank you to Duchess and Artbeads for this wonderfull opportunity.

I’m not employed by or being paid by Artbeads, and the opinions expressed in this blog are honest and completely my own. I received the following products free of charge from Artbeads.

My Etsy finds: Looking forward to Summer

I grew up on an island, and moved to the US a couple of years ago, currently I do not live close the beach. How I wish that, the smell of the Beach, sand between my toes, the wind in my hair and crystal clear waters. From fine art to sea glass all these beautiful pieces remind me that Summer is almost here even though this year I will not be going back to my sweet island of Bonaire, I can just pretend that the pool is my kinda private beach;)
