What I made: Handmade Jewelry

Since I am a bit under the weather, and laying in bed doing nothing is not my thing, I decided to make some jewelry.

I love working with leather, I even played with some clay and came up with some chunky beads.

I redesigned the against sexual violence bracelet.

I hope I can catch some sleep, I love Fall but not the allergies that come with it.

DIY Maxi skirt.

Sometimes I can't still I love making things, whether it's painting something to decorate my house, or a new piece of jewelry I love making something new and exciting.

A month or two ago I took a sewing class, it was an hour class and I thought maybe I can do this, so a couple of weeks later I bought a Bernina sewing machine, I don't have a sewing space yet but I like keeping everything neat in a special place. I have made a couple of zipper pouches, leather clutches (broke a couple of needles that boomeranged in my chest...long story) and pillow covers.

I have been wanting to make an item of clothing so I have been looking on Pinterest , youtube and craftgawker and made my own Maxi skirt. It was a long work and I learned to use knit fabric the second time, and really pinned everything ( I hate pins) . 

I will be taking a couple of sewing classes very soon I can't wait to learn how to read patterns.

You never know you might see me on the RunWay show..... I was just kidding.

Leather Jewelry!

When it rains I try to either sew or make some new jewelry.
I love working with leather there are endless possibilities, here are 5 bracelets I made today.
For some I used old earrings, thread, and suede.

To the Max.

I have a secret love affair with TJMaxx I always find something there, like this maxi dress from Max Studio on sale for $22 original price $138. As soon as I saw it I was like I need this, perfect for now and later with scarves and a denim jacket when the weather gets colder, handy for my trip to the Caribbean in a couple of months.

I am heading out in a bit to the Art in the Park event and might take a look at the Dragon Con event happening in Downtown.

What's cooking?

I love a good burger,  here at my house the hubby makes buffalo or turkey burgers. 

I got to make my first burger the other day, mine was beef I made a spicy mayo and ketchup concoction I grilled onions and mushrooms and added aged sliced Swiss cheese to it.

Both the kids said "this is better than daddy's. 

Next time I want to make one with goat cheese and a homemade fig preserve.

Time to Update my Fall Closet.

I have been looking to update my closet for Fall, I want to reuse pieces I have but I also want to do a little shopping I want to bring in some new stuff. Who doesn't love a little bit of shopping.

First thing one my list would be a beautiful coat that has a timeless look all over and fits me well. I really love fitted coats, it shows off so elegant. 

I have found one that doesn't break the bank on Simons.ca it's a mixed media double-breasted coat with faux leather sleeves and I have my eyes fixed on the perfect Tahari riding boots from DSW  to go with it.

On my wish list from Simon Ca, a red ribbed cuffed beanie perfect for those bad hair days and a glamorous faux-fur stole cause I always wanted one. 

Mini Monday!

I am still recuping from "s Miley's exorcism at the VMA's yesterday evening.

No class at all. 

But another note it's Monday and it's sunny here in Atlanta.

I got this skirt at a Thrift store with the means to get it cut so I could use the fabric for future sewing projects.  I decided to try it on yesterday and was glad with the fit and that is has pockets so  this skirt will no longer be in the fabric pile.
